The $7 million dollar paint machine

Unlike many RV manufacturers, Winnebago uses a lot of steel for strength and durability.  Steel is strong, but it can rust.  This is where e-coat comes in.  It’s short for electro-deposition which coats steel parts which will be exposed to the elements.

This past year, the company replaced it’s 30 year old machine with the RV industry’s largest and most advanced system. Electro-deposition is accomplished by charging the components to be coated with electricity, and then paint film is bonded to the body to a desired thickness. Similar to automotive companies, Winnebago uses the e-coat process to provide the highest level of corrosion protection.
